In Arizona, you can become a security guard by taking an eight-hour training course for only $25. You will not be allowed to carry a gun, though. If you wish to become an armed security guard, then you will need to pay $75 to take a course that requires the passing of a written test and your display of your shooting proficiency. If you do carry a firearm, it will need to be registered.

While you will not require a college education, most businesses will require a high school diploma or GED. With the combination of a low education requirement and minimal training, this type of job is easy to get started in.

If your dream career isn’t to be a security guard, it is at least a good starting point for you. For example, your dream job may be a police officer; however, you need a way to pay for your college tuition. The national hourly wage for this occupation is $14.29 as of May 2016, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics.
